Swords and Spindles Celebrate Shakespeare’s 400th anniversary

DSCF2647Master Christopher and Mistress Agnes commemorated the 400th anniversary of Shakespeare’s death in style yesterday, as Walter Henry’s Independent Bookshop in Bideford opened its doors to local authors, plying them with tea (tea?) and cake. Mistress Agnes was pleased to see her offerings on display and some folk even parted with groats in order to acquire copies.

There was an opportunity to educate those present about the inappropriateness of their attire, which Mistress Agnes did with aplomb. Mistress Shakespeare read a sonnet by her namesake (but no relation) and we learned of Shakespeare’s visit to North Devon from Peter Christie. Some wonderful authors to meet, what talent there is in North Devon.

In honour of the launch of Libraries Unlimited Mistress Agnes has made a video not that she knows what that be. She’s not sure that she be up to all this technology lark.
